Another general yoga class has commenced upstairs at the Rex Centre. This one is being run by Zak, one of our volunteers on the Thursday book stall. It is based on the principles of Hatha Yoga and will be held on Saturdays from 10am to 11.30am, in the Greenknowe Room. It is suitable for all levels and is by donation. Don’t be bashful or worried about your level of fitness – just turn up and see if it’s for you.

We have two shopping services to help you.

Our Centre has a weekly list shopping service for those who are frail, elderly or disabled. The service (cost $4) enables people to remain in their own home and be independent.

We also have our Shopping Service Bus (for frail, aged and disabled customers). Shoppers leave the Centre at 10am (arrangements can be made to pick up those unable to come to the Centre). They are driven to the shopping centre and then home with their groceries. (Cost $4.) Our bus goes every Tuesday, alternating between Eastgate Bondi Junction and Marrickville Metro.

Thursdays 10am – 1pm.
Come in and browse.  Bric a brac, antiques, books. There’s something for everyone.

There is a beaded jewellery creation class being held upstairs in the Rex Centre on the second Saturday of each month. The cost is $85 for the full course but this includes all materials and tools.

Creative Movement Class, Monday 2pm. At the Kings Cross Community Centre.

As you know we generally hold a planning day once a year. At this time this is hoped that this will occur this month. Whilst not of a formal nature or in any way binding, the day gives an opportunity for all those involved in the ‘day-to-day’ running of the Centre a chance to reflect on what is currently happening and what may happen in the future. This can cover all aspects of our client service provision and how we relate to our funding commitments. It’s always useful to guage how we are going or even spark a brilliant new idea/venture!

With regard to the current emphasis on recycling and not creating waste where possible, it is has been pointed out that old batteries and light bulbs can be left at the Library on Darlinghurst Road. This is a City of Sydney Council initiative and you can discuss other recycling options with the staff.

Fees are:
$3 for a new member
$2 for a renewal.
You must be a Financial Member to vote at the AGM.
